Notes - Frieda was killed during an attack by American war planes on the Japanese ship "Dorish Maru" off the coast of New Guinea during World War II. She had been working as a medical sister at the Amele Mission Hospital and, together with other staff, was taken prisoner by the Japanese in January 1943. The Japanese were moving a large group of prisoners by ship when it was attacked, killing over 60 of the prisoners-of-war.
