This site is focused on our daughter, a 6th generation Australian of German - Scottish - English - Irish - Swiss heritage. It traces her paternal (Briese) and maternal (Brown) family lineages back for up to 9 generations in an ever-expanding tree. At present it lists 110 of her ancestors, tracing them back to their European origins and the dates of immigration to a new life downunder. At the moment it consists solely of a genealogical database, which includes her direct ancestors and, in some cases, the first generation of their other lines of descent.
As the site progesses, I plan to include photographs and stories of the lives of these people to show the complex threads of nature and nurture that have led to the existence of one individual in one particular time and place. We are all in some way a product of the lives, opportunities and decisions of our ancestors, and the planned and chance events that befell them. To better understand ourselves, we need to understand where we come from.
